Innovation, Community and Care – Parkinson’s Initiatives in Action Webinar

In this session, he will:

-  Introduce a support clinic for people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s, focused on early education, empowerment, and connection

-  Discuss the role of boxing and yoga programs in improving mobility, confidence, and wellbeing

-  Provide an update on the Probucol study and its potential implications for Parkinson’s treatment

-  Share reflections from the Doctors with Parkinson’s support group, highlighting the perspectives of clinicians navigating the condition themselves

-  Offer insights from visiting Parkinson’s support groups across Western Australia, and what these conversations reveal about community strengths and unmet needs.


Drawing on both professional leadership and lived experience, Professor Blacker will reflect on what truly matters to people living with Parkinson’s—and how services and research can respond more effectively. We will also hear briefly from Prof Michele Callisaya, co-lead of the Tasmania Parkinson’s Project, who will provide updates on current initiatives and opportunities to participate in Parkinson’s research in Tasmania.
