Webinar: Mindfulness and Parkinson’s – Calming the Body and Mind

Published on: 8 December 2025

Living with Parkinson’s can bring daily challenges—not only physical, but emotional and cognitive as well. In this uplifting and practical webinar, we welcome Dr Larissa Bartlett, a researcher with expertise in mindfulness-based therapies, to explore how mindfulness can support wellbeing for people living with Parkinson’s.

In this session, Dr Larissa will:

-  Explain what mindfulness is and how it affects the brain and nervous system

-  Share research on the benefits of mindfulness improving health and quality of life—including stress reduction, improved mood, and better sleep.

-  Offer simple, guided mindfulness exercises you can try at home

-  Discuss how mindfulness can be integrated into everyday life, even for beginners

Whether you’re new to mindfulness or already practicing, this session will offer practical tools for enhancing quality of life and emotional resilience.

We will also hear from Professors Jane Alty and Michele Callisaya, co-leads of the Tasmania Parkinson’s Project, who will share details about upcoming research opportunities in Tasmania and Australia-wide.

If you have a question about Parkinson’s Tasmania or advocacy that you would like answered in the webinar, please email your question to parkinsons@utas.edu.au
