Tasmanian Parkinson's Project - May 2025 Webinar

Published on: 30 May 2025

Join us for an informative webinar about our local Parkinson's organisation, Parkinson's Tasmania, as well as one of the awareness and fundraising campaigns currently underway by a Tasmanian local.  We are delighted to welcome Claire Myers from Parkinson's Tasmania and Malcolm McGinn, who is living with Parkinson's, to talk to us about their links with the Parkinson's community. Claire will tell us about Parkinson's Tasmania:

  • Who we are - Parkinson’s Tasmania is a voluntary not for profit organisation that provides support for people living with Parkinson’s, their carers and families Parkinson's Tasmania | Parkinson's Support
  • What we do – we facilitate support groups across Tasmania for people living with Parkinson’s and their carers, we advocate at a State and Federal level to ensure our Tasmanian Parkinson’s Community has a loud and equal voice
  • How we align with Tasmania Parkinson’s Project – we are heavily invested in improving the lives of people with Parkinson’s through research and education
  • A bit about my story and lived experience – my Dad lived a happy, healthy, active life with Parkinson’s.

Malcolm will then share his journey with us and talk about the strength of positive thinking; the influence that can be achieved when surrounding yourself with positive people and why a group of friends would band together to restore 5 old Subarus and attempt to drive them across the Simpson Desert.

In this webinar you will also hear from our 'webinar regular' Jane, who will give us an update on the Tasmania Parkinson's project. As always, the panel will then discuss how you can get involved in Parkinson's research - whether you live in Tasmania or somewhere else, along with some dedicated question and answer time.

If you have a question about Parkinson’s Tasmania or advocacy that you would like answered in the webinar, please email your question to parkinsons@utas.edu.au
