Published on: 11 February 2026

Oral health is an often overlooked but essential part of living well with Parkinson’s disease. Changes in movement, saliva, swallowing, and medication effects can all impact dental health and comfort. In this practical and informative webinar, we welcome Shafaq Hussain-Ali, an experienced dentist living with young onset Parkinson's and one of our Parkinson's MOOC contributors.

In this webinar she will discuss the unique oral health challenges faced by people with Parkinson’s and how they can be managed, along with her own journey with Parkinson's.

In this session, Shafaq will:

-  Share her thoughts on living and working with young onset Parkinson's

-  Explain how Parkinson’s and its treatments can affect oral health, including dry mouth, drooling, gum disease, tooth decay, and swallowing difficulties

-  Share practical strategies for maintaining good oral hygiene at home, even with tremor or stiffness

-  Offer guidance on working with your dentist and knowing when to seek professional support

This webinar will be valuable for people living with Parkinson’s, carers, and health professionals, providing practical tips to support comfort, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
